Based in Cádiz since 2011, I’ve built a freelance career as a translator, proofreader, and subtitler across a wide range of sectors—from local wine production and flamenco research to scientific articles and industry reports.

Today, I mainly translate from French, Spanish, and Portuguese, specialising in radiology and international development evaluation.

In recent years, I’ve founded two translator collectives and I’m committed to helping fellow professionals navigate the changes our industry is undergoing.

I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Work, Organisational and HR Psychology, and I’m keen to put my multilingual skills to use in a growing portfolio of consultancy work.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me walking along the Costa de la Luz, experimenting in the kitchen, or cycling with my children along Andalusia’s beautiful greenways.

A lifelong passion for languages made it almost inevitable that I would become a translator. Having studied English, Welsh, Spanish, French and Italian at school and university, an opportunity to teach English as a foreign language brought me to Spain over a decade ago, where I have remained ever since.

Translation soon felt like the natural next step. After a period working in translation agencies in Barcelona, I took the leap and became a freelancer. Since then, I have worked on a wide range of projects – from translation and proofreading to subtitling and transcription – across numerous fields, although legal texts have always interested me most.

When I am not in the office, I enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the province of Cádiz, running, cycling and hiking whenever I can. I am also a keen music enthusiast and actively involved in the local scene in Jerez de la Frontera, which I am now fortunate enough to call home.

Having learnt sign language before I could speak, I went on to enjoy studying Spanish and French through school and university, confirming that I have always been a linguist at heart. I believe that translation walks the line between art and science, both working in harmony to attain the balance that I feel is reflected in my mindset and attitude.

This equilibrium is made manifest in the translations I have undertaken throughout my career: from specialised construction documents and tech specs in fields such as IT, to tourist information aimed at promoting the beauty of the local area, as well as architectural articles which address both technical aspects and the essence of the art.

My approach is the same outside of the office, whether I’m playing the drums, preparing a speciality coffee, cooking a spicy dish with home-grown produce, or gaming.

I’m a Spanish to English translator, proofreader and English teacher. Although I’m Spanish, I was raised in London, where I discovered early on the joy of helping others overcome language and communication barriers.

Since then, this passion has shaped my path. I’ve trained in Bristol, London, and Salamanca, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Translation and Technologies at the UOC.

I’m particularly interested in web accessibility for people with visual, hearing, or physical disabilities. I completed the Audio Description Training Retreats course with Colleen Connor and am now exploring the possibility of offering both web accessibility audits and audio description services.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching series, reading, or heading out for a walk with my dog.
